5. Don't Trust the Government with the Evironment
June 19, 2007
The G8 + 5 - What will they do for the environment?
Very big on rhetoric, very small on actions – despite the big fanfare nothing has changed in Africa since Gleneagles. So it is with regret that I cannot see any positive affects on the environment coming from the more recent squabbling. The G8 remain short-sighted and seem to do little to save our environment. I bet that all the air miles and helicopter rides have caused a greater damage to the environment than the summit in Germany will ever provide in benefits from the idle talks.

After all, it's been nearly two years since ten simultaneous Live 8 concerts were held across the world to raise awareness for African poverty, and if that event is any indicator, we shouldn't expect much beyond the hype and sparkle that does more for aging rockers than the de... 20. Are there no open fields in Lebanon?
July 27, 2006
It is a tragedy that Israel gave Hezbollah and its sponsors just what they wanted - a major kill of civilians. Most tragic is more than half were children. But, is anyone asking - Why didn't Hezbollah get those people to safety when Hezbollah was using that very area from which to fire rockets and missiles at Israeli civilians? Israel dropped leaflets on the target area warning civilians to get out, yet, Hezbollah fighters, no doubt read the same leaflets and allowed the civilians to stay in the target area. Perhaps the charge is true - Hezbollah cares more about winning than about their... (read more)
